Martin Hirsch visits in Boston [fr]

Visit of a Parisian delegation led by Martin Hirsch, CEO of APHP, to Boston in order to meet and exchange with their Bostonian counterparts to collect information and exchange best practices in the field of care delivery and hospital management

On January 4 and 5, Consul General Valery Freland welcomed in Boston a French delegation led by Martin Hirsch, CEO of APHP (Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris), which brings together Paris and Ile-de-France’s public hospitals, the largest health consortium in Europe. The delegation was composed by Christine Clerici, Professor of physiology and former President of the Paris 7 University; Philippe Ruszniewski, Dean of the Medical School of Paris 7-Diderot University; François Cremieux, CEO of the Paris Northern hospitals; Dominique Le Guludec, President of the medical commission of the Paris Northern hospitals; and Etienne Grass, Director of strategy and audit at the AP-HP.

During their stay, the delegation was able to visit and exchange with staff from Boston Medical Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital . They also visited LabCentral in Cambridge and met with Partners HealthCare Brigham. Finally, during a reception at the Residence of France, they were able to meet representatives of the Bostonian hospitals and universities, including Peter Slavin, President of MGH and Professor Jeffrey Flier, Dean of the Harvard Medical School.

The main purpose of the visit was to collect information and exchange best practices in the field of care delivery and hospital management in order to prepare the construction of a new big hospital that will cover the North of Paris. It was also an opportunity to identify possible areas of cooperation, strengthening ties at all levels between French and American actors in the health field, area of excellence both in Boston and Paris. The beginning of a promising collaboration!
