High School French Immersion Day

On Saturday April 26 from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, high school students with a minimum French level 3 are invited to participate in High School French Immersion Day at the Alliance Française on 928 Smith Street in Providence to advance their knowledge of the French language and Francophone culture.

French Immersion Day returns as an event designed specifically for students after the success of the first Immersion Day for adults in February. Executive Director Flavien Collet comments: "It’s very exciting for us to reach out to high school students and teach them more about French and francophone culture in a non-traditional setting where they can mingle with their peers."

Four workshops that will teach participants about French pop culture, African francophone cultures and music, and French slang, broken up by French language games and activities.

The $40 price for the day per student includes breakfast and a French lunch; French Immersion Day will conclude with a crêpe party. Workshops will be taught by educators who are native French speakers; French Immersion Day provides not only the opportunity for high school students to learn, but to connect with students from other schools with a shared interest for French.

Admission is $40 per student, and free for high school French teachers accompanying their students.

The day starts at 9:00 am and lasts until 2:30 pm on Saturday, April 29.
