June 17 - September 27: "Lafayette: An American Icon" exhibition at the Boston Athenaeum

As the replica of the Hermione, a French frigate that ferried General Lafayette to America, heads toward the coasts of New England - and will stop in Boston on July 11 and 12 - the Boston Athenaeum (10? Beacon Street, Boston) honors the memory of the French Hero of the American Revolution with a collection of portraits and contemporary documents such as manuscripts and maps.

Entrance costs $5 for non-members and is free for members.

Two receptions to celebrate the opening

A reception will be held on Wednesday, June 17 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 to mark the opening of this exhibition; and will be repeated on Wednesday, June 23 at the same hours. Attendance is free and open to all. An optional, introductory lecture of the works in the exhibit will be shown from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Registration isn’t required.
