10:00-10:45 am: Lafayette Day Ceremony including
special remarks from Senator-Mayor Jean-Pierre
Leleux from Grasse, France and Count Gilbert de Pusy
Lafayette, Lafayette’s sixth generation grandson.
11:00-11:45 am: Legion of Honor Award Ceremony
honoring a hero of Liberation of France in World War II.
11:45 am: Procession to and laying of the wreath at
the Lafayette monument on Boston Common.

Abbot Hall, Marblehead, MA
Open to the public

5:00-5:45 pm: Art and historical artifact exhibit of the
town of Marblehead during the American Revolution.
6:00-8:00 pm: Official Reactivation Ceremony of
the Sister City Partnership between the town of
Marblehead and the city of Grasse.
Greetings and special remarks by the Marblehead
Board of Selectmen, the Senator-Mayor of Grasse,
the Consul General of France in Boston and
Massachusetts state officials. Choral selections
performed by the Marblehead High School choir.
Presentations by scholars on the contributions of
Marquis de Lafayette and Admiral de Grasse to
the American Independence, and a comparative
study of local government systems exploring the
respective roles of the Mayor in France and the
Massachusetts Board of Selectmen.

traveling art exhibit featuring contemporary works
from the Art Association of Grasse.

Jeremiah Lee Mansion, Marblehead, MA

6:30-8:30 pm: Historical theatrical reenactment
of the Marquis de Lafayette’s visits to
Marblehead and the meeting of Lafayette, General
Washington and Admiral de Grasse aboard the
flagship “Ville de Paris”.
