May 8 : Talea Ensemble performs Georges Aperghis’ "Happy End"

The New York-based musical ensemble Talea will be performing Happy End, by French composer Georges Aperghis, at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston on Friday, May 8 at 8 p.m.

Happy End is a creation of Greek-born French composer Georges Aperghis and Belgian video artist Hans Op de Beeck, featuring the voices of Michael Lonsdale and Editch Scob. This one hour-long work is based on Charles Perrault’s 17th century fairy tale Le Petit Poucet (Little Thumb). It features a 16-member ensemble on stage with live electronics, projected video and prerecorded voices. It is an all encompassing experience that pulls the audience into the world of the story, becoming more than a re-telling of the tale and closer to a psychological journey into the mind of its protagonist.
