JPEGCatherine Cusset is a French writer who lives in New York. She has taught 18th century literature at Yale University for the past 11 years. She is renowned for her direct, incisive, and visual prose.

Her work overall contains the recurring themes of family, desire, and even the cultural conflicts between France and America. Le problème avec Jane received the Grand Prix from Elle magazine’s readership in 2000, and her most recent novel, Un Brillant Avenir, earned her the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens in 2008.
