NETVA 2022 Immersion Week

From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Consulate General of France in Boston hosted three French start-ups to introduce them to the Boston ecosystem as part of their NETVA immersion week.

These 3 startups, Arterya, Biophta and MexBrain, benefited from the guidance and advice of members of the French-American Chamber of Commerce specializing in the life-science and biotech sectors, including a masterclass on adjusting their pitches to an American audience.

They had the opportunity to present their startups in front of an audience of 50 people during a "Café des Entrepreneurs".

A number of visits were also organized, including a tour of the MIT campus and its Mechanical Engineering Department (MechE).

The 3 start-ups were also able to visit incubators supporting companies in their fields of activity.

They had the opportunity to learn about LabCentral, which offers a network of labs and office space to biotech start-ups. They were accompanied by Consul General Mustafa Soykurt, and hosted by the CEO and co-founder, Johannes Fruehauf.

A meeting with Anthony Renodon and Kévin Alessandri of TreeFrog Therapeutics, the 2019 NETVA laureates currently located at LabCentral, led to constructive exchanges on the opportunities and challenges associated with setting up a French company in the United States.

In addition, through a series of meetings, the three start-ups discussed in detail the components of the Boston ecosystem as well as their possibilities of collaboration in the context of expanding in Massachusetts

The immersion week also included individual meetings organized by the Office for Science and Technology of the Consulate General.

The NETVA laureates met and interacted with over 30 key players from the Boston ecosystem, including renowned medical professors and researchers who shared their knowledge, entrepreneurs (notably from French Tech Boston) who spoke about their experiences and their successful transition to Boston, as well HR, IP, FDA, and fundraising experts.

They also had the opportunity to present their products to investors during a meeting organized by Business France.

The NETVA program is supported by the Office for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in the USA. It provides personalized support, analysis of opportunities and development of technological partnerships in the United States to young innovative French startups wishing to prepare for the realities and specificities of the North American markets in order to succeed in their internationalization.
