Pictures of Films on the Green @ Harvard & MIT!

The Cultural Services of the French Consulate in Boston, in collaboration with Harvard and MIT, have established a new film tradition with Films on the Green to welcome back students.

On September 5th, the Cultural Services of the French Consulate in Boston, in collaboration with several Harvard University Departments, welcomed back students with an outdoor screening of Coco Before Chanel (starring Audrey Tautou). This convivial soirée brought 150 young students together to watch the film, sitting on the grass or in French-designed Fermob chairs in front of Kirkland House, all while savoring Cameo Macaron’s delicious macaroons.

On September 12th and September 13th, two additional films were presented, this time at at MIT’s Stata Center outdoor amphitheater (in front of Frank Ghery’s famous building) along with French appetizers and music. More than 160 people came to enjoy this late summer evening and watch the spoof spy movie OSS 117: A Nest of Spies, starring Academy Award-winner Jean Dujardin. The second screening was relocated inside due to bouts of rain, but a hundred people nonetheless came to watch Marjane Satrapi’s animated hit Persepolis, the touching coming-of-age story of an Iranian girl. Both events, according to all partners involved, were a success and are to become new traditions to welcome back students.
