General Presentation / Villa Albertine Boston
Located in each country under the authority of the French Embassy, the Cultural Services promote the French language and culture in partnership with local institutions. In addition to the headquarters based in New York (artistic cooperation) and Washington (educational and academic cooperation), the French cultural network is present in 8 major American cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, and is now identified as Villa Albertine.
The New England Cultural Services or Villa Albertine Boston develop artistic, educational, and academic activities in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. It is committed, with its American partners, to promoting Franco-American exchanges in the artistic, audiovisual, literary, educational, academic, and non-governmental fields. It provides support and advice to individuals (artists, authors, teachers, researchers, professionals) and institutions (art centers, cinematheques, professional networks, schools, educational systems, universities, NGOs, foundations, and local authorities). It develops numerous projects in partnership with them.
Villa Albertine offers an annual program of 60 residencies across the United States for creators (from all disciplines), researchers, and professionals from the cultural world (including museum directors).
Villa Albertine has developed fifteen professional programs in partnership with the FACE Foundation, addressing the main fields of culture and the creative industries. These programs have played a structuring role in strengthening the links between the French and American cultural landscapes for thirty years. Villa Albertine also provides many professional resources (maps, reports, analyses).
With the creation of a magazine, Villa Albertine introduces inspiring figures and lesser-known territories and shares emerging trends and original creations that contribute to renewing the Franco-American dialogue.
Festivals, one-off events, and regular cycles complete this comprehensive and flexible program of support for French cultural actors, in the heart of a territory that is essential to them.
