Visit of Mayor of Strasbourg, J. Barseghian to Boston: New Perspectives of Cooperation

On October 6 and 7, a delegation led by Strasbourg Mayor Jeanne Barseghian traveled to Boston to learn about the local ecosystem and meet with officials from the City of Boston.

As the Sister City Program between the City of Strasbourg and the City of Boston celebrated its 60th anniversary, a delegation led by Mrs. Jeanne Barseghian, Mayor of Strasbourg, and composed notably of the Deputy Mayor in charge of International Relations, Mrs. Véronique Bertholle, and the Delegated City Councilor, Mrs. Anne-Marie Jean, traveled to Boston.

During this visit which was aimed at giving new perspectives to this historic Sister City Program, the delegation, accompanied by the Consul General of France in Boston Mr. Mustafa Soykurt, met with the Mayor of Boston, Ms. Michelle Wu, as well as various officials from the City of Boston, in charge of the economic, climate and transportation sectors.

The Consulate then hosted a reception in the presence of Mayor Jeanne Barseghian, the Boston Strasbourg Sister City Association, Harvard University students from Strasbourg, and representatives of the City of Boston, to thank them all for their commitment to the cooperation between Boston and Strasbourg and between our two countries.

Cooperation on climate policy, urban planning, and innovation could be further developed between the two cities in the coming years, thereby enriching local actions. The creation of links between Strasbourg and Boston businesses, as well as the development of academic and research exchanges, will become critical themes of this international cooperation.
